Playgroup kids are raised in an environment tailored to be home extension. Since this is
their first contact with school, we expect some not wanting to part with their parents.
We are aware of this challenge and therefore made adequate provisions for them to feel
at home even from their first day in school. They learn the basic skills of
co-ordination and are involved in activities that inculcate alphabetic and numerical
orientation in a play-way method. They read numbers 1 – 20 and A to Z in songs. We also
place emphasis on language acquisition especially correct usage of action words or doing
words. We take them through a gradual process of toilet training by creating awareness
and time for recess.
The goal set for our play school’s Nursery program is based on enquiry, hands – on
teaching and individualised
instructions. We aim to teach them how to interact with one another using play – way
methods. We crave to develop imaginative skills in all the activities
the children are exposed to. One of such at WOW KIDS schools is the imaginary “City of
Alphabet” where letters talk and interact with one another.
Kids at this stage learn the sounds made by letters to form words. Stories are told on
the interaction of letters to form simple words.
Activities at this stage include, identification of numbers and letters, correct usage
of action words and vocabulary development among others.
Children in WOW Kids pre-schools LKG program already have solid foundations necessary for their potentials to start blossoming. They are exposed to activities that ensure all round education. Their vocabulary is worked on everyday to ensure that their speaking skills are enhanced. Reading and writing of letters of the alphabet with phonics become very essential at this stage. Our Maths curriculum is divided into counting, identification of figures, size and measurements and shapes colors and patterns. Added to these are numbering, counting, sorting, classifying and recognizing and following patterns. Included in their curriculum are, science, creative arts, music etc. All these are taught in a relaxed and conducive atmosphere.
Upper KG offers children the chance to display their potentials. By now they are aware of the opportunities offered by their environment and use them to the fullest. They are exposed to wider vocabulary and can express themselves well. They are conscious of their self-esteem and are now more confident. They are exposed to simple addition and subtraction. They are to learn combinations of primary colors to form secondary colours. They are made to study patterns and continue with the next combination. They are to learn logical reasoning through solving simple puzzles. They are to learn reading using rhyming words. They are taking out of the school on field trips to enable them explore their environment to the fullest.
